Appointments System

For GP appointments and home visits, please use the AskMyGP link (for those without internet access, you can still call the surgery and hold to speak to a receptionist, they will take your information and forward this to the appropriate clinician). To ensure patients are getting the best level of care, when our GP'S have reached capacity we are unable to take anymore appointment requests. We would therefore ask that you only contact the Surgery after this time if you need urgent advice from a Doctor.

For all other types of appointment, such as Nursing, Health Care Assistant, Diabetes Care, Physio etc, you can still call in to the surgery to book this.

For urgent medical problems ring us; we can make a space for you at short notice.

We will try to give you an appointment with your own doctor. If they are not available we will offer you an appointment with another doctor.

If you have a specific preference for one particular doctor we will try to arrange this for you.

Types of GP or Nurse Practitioner Appointments Offered

With the introduction of AskMyGP, we aim to deal with your queries on the same day where possible.  You can submit your request online and this will be seen by a GP who may call you, return your email or ask you to come in to be seen.  With this in mind, you can submit your queries on the same day that you would like a response. You can specify your contact preference - i.e telephone consultation, online or face to face and we will try to accommodate this if the GP feels that this is appropriate.

Nurse Practitioner Appointments

Our GPs will now be filtering through all of the requests using AskMyGP and where necessary, they will either contact you directly or ask a member of the reception team to contact you to book in with a Nurse Practitioner at a time convenient to you.

GP "Urgent"/Sit and Wait Slots

With the introduction of AskMyGP, we no longer need a sit and wait system.  If a GP reviews your request and feels it is necessary to see you, we will contact you directly to arrange a time for you to come in that is mutually agreeable.

Extended Access - Evenings and Weekends

We are pleased to be able to offer our patients access to routine, pre-booked appointments at evenings and weekends.

Primary Care Networks (PCN's) provide enhanced access appointments between the hours of 6:30pm to 8pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. We also offer some early morning appointments starting from 7am on Friday's. As enhanced access is delivered at a PCN level, appointments can be at a nearby practice in the Grantham area.

Please check the link below for further information.

Enhanced Access - Grantham Area.pdf

Appointments are for pre-bookable, non-urgent consultations with GPs and Nurses and Physiotherapists.

We are working collaboratively with other surgeries in the area and the service will be provided from a number of these surgeries throughout the week.  This service is managed by a federation of GPs in the Grantham area. This means that your appointment could be with a health professional from any of the federation practices.  St John's will host appointments every Monday evening but we may have members of our team working during these hours but from other locations.

To arrange an appointment or to find out further information, please speak to your practice receptionist.

When booking an appointment you will need to consent to a Consulting Clinician that may not be your own GP viewing and updating your health record.

Important things to remember

  1. These are pre-bookable and not urgent, acute ‘on the day’ matters
  2. Booked in advance through your own GP reception

  3. May be with a health professional from any of the federation practices and may be located in a different surgery from your usual surgery

  4. These appointments are additional capacity across the federation practices

  5. To arrange an appointment or for further information, please speak to a member of the Reception team.

Home Visits

Our doctors typically see four patients in the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit.

For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.

However, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend our practice.

If possible, please ring for a home visit before 10.15 am.
