AskMyGP is available to use Monday-Friday.
Routine requests, medication queries and administrative queries can be submitted during our core hours 8 – 6.30pm.
Routine requests will be triaged by our clinical team, and you will receive a response on the same day. If your request is deemed routine, we aim for your appointment to take place within 1-3 working days from our response. Please note that timescales for appointments may vary depending on clinician availability and patient demand. Your appointment could be telephone, face to face or by text or email.
Same day acute requests will be dealt with on the day however there may be a time restriction during busy times. Should we reach capacity you will be directed to another service.
We observe the “ One appointment, one problem” ethos. We strive to deal with each medical problem to the highest standard and this proves to be impossible if we are asked to deal with several problems in one appointment.
Please note all appointments with our nursing team have remained the same and must be booked in advance.
All of our registered patients are asked to use this service and you can use the service if you are a parent or carer. Please note however, that we may need permission from the patient to discuss their medical information with you.

To request a reasonable adjustment, please contact the reception team on 01476 348484 or email licb.stjohns.med@nhs.net
Examples of reasonanle adjustments
Time - Do you need appointments at a certain time of day? Do you need extra time to explain things?
Environment - Do you need to wait in a quiet environment?
Communication - What is your preferred method off communication? Do you need things written down to help understand them better?
You might be offered a face-to-face appointment or a phone call with a GP or other member of the practice staff, like a nursepractitioner or pharmacist.
If you have a carer, they can speak for you with your consent.
You can ask to see a preferred healthcare professional, and the practice will try to meet your request, although you might have to wait longer for that person to be available.
It can be helpful to see the same healthcare professional, particularly if you have a long-term health condition.
If you are 16 or older, you can make and go to appointments by yourself.
If you are under 16, you can still ask to see a GP without your parent or guardian. The GP will decide if that’s appropriate for you.
If you do not speak English, you can ask for interpretation services in your preferred language when you make an appointment.
If you need extra help like longer appointments, a quiet space, wheelchair access, or information in a different format, tell your practice and they will try to help.
We are pleased to be able to offer our patients access to routine, pre-booked appointments at evenings and weekends.
Primary Care Networks (PCN's) provide enhanced access appointments between the hours of 6:30pm to 8pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. We also offer some early morning appointments starting from 7am on Friday's. As enhanced access is delivered at a PCN level, appointments can be at a nearby practice in the Grantham area.
Please check the link below for further information.
Enhanced Access - Grantham Area.pdf
Appointments are for pre-bookable, non-urgent consultations with GPs and Nurses and Physiotherapists.
We are working collaboratively with other surgeries in the area and the service will be provided from a number of these surgeries throughout the week. This service is managed by a federation of GPs in the Grantham area. This means that your appointment could be with a health professional from any of the federation practices. St John's will host appointments every Monday evening but we may have members of our team working during these hours but from other locations.
To arrange an appointment or to find out further information, please speak to your practice receptionist.
When booking an appointment you will need to consent to a Consulting Clinician that may not be your own GP viewing and updating your health record.
Important things to remember
Booked in advance through your own GP reception
May be with a health professional from any of the federation practices and may be located in a different surgery from your usual surgery
These appointments are additional capacity across the federation practices
To arrange an appointment or for further information, please speak to a member of the Reception team.
Our doctors typically see four patients in the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit.
For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.
However, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend our practice.
If possible, please ring for a home visit before 10.15 am.
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
